Rebuilding Family traditions

Rebuilding Family traditions

Prince Davit Bagration of Mukhrani Vineyards and Winery in Mukhrani State.

Following the family tradition, the 30th Mukhran-Batoni, Prince Davit Bagration of Mukhrani and Georgia is proud to follow in the footsteps of Prince Ivane Bagration of Mukhrani 26th Mukhran-Batoni (1812- 1895). Prince Ivane was a successful winemaker – and this included sparkling wines and the creation of the Palace of Mukhrani. He took a great interest in the art of viniculture and employed French and Georgian specialists to construct, in 1876, a large winery in his family estate of Mukhrani which incorporated French technology in bottling procedures.

Georgia its the Homeland of Wine, A 8000-year-old history of Georgian winemaking – from the Neolithic period to the 21th-century.
The fertility of the land in most of the country, the advances and aid to the agricultural sector existing today in Georgia, as well as facilities for export to partner countries, have encouraged me to rebuild the vineyards and winery on the lands of Mukhrani. It is a pleasure to meet and work with some of the descendants of men and women who have been working in the vineyards of Ivane Mukhran-Batoni. I started this project in 2017 and I hope to introduce the first bottles of wine by 2022 The important thing is the end result and for this reason we must ensure correct timing to produce excellent Georgian wines for the best tables in the world.
