Solemn welcome of the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije in Podgorica

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Davit Bagration Muhranbatoni, Head of the Royal House of Georgia, Her Royal Highness Princess Irina, attended, on 4. September 2021, the solemn and magnificent welcome of His Holiness k.k. Porfirije, Archbishop of Pech, Metropolitan of Belgrade and Karlovtsi and Serbian Patriarch, who arrived in Montenegro for the first time since his election as Serbian Patriarch, on 18. February 2021.

His Holiness arrived on the occasion of the enthronement ceremony of His Eminence k.k. Joanikije II, Metropolitan of Montenegro, Littoral, Zeta, Brda and Skenderija and Exarch of the Holy Throne of Pech to the Holy Throne of Saint Petar of Tsetinje in the Tsetinje Monastery, in the old Montenegrin Royal capital of Tsetinje.

Their Highnesses were given the highest honors possible in such events, same as His Royal Highness Prince Filip Karadjordjevich of Serbia and Yugoslavia and his wife, Her Royal Highness Princess Danitsa Karadjordjevich of Serbia and Yugoslavia, who also attended the ceremony, along with tens of thousands of Montenegrin citizens, faithful sons and daughters of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The warm treatment, the relationship of true paternal love and fraternal welcome to Their Highnesses was also expressed by the fact that, in his welcome homily, in which he greeted all the officials in attendance, Metropolitan Joanikije has mentioned only the two Royal couples of Georgia and Serbia by name and explicitly, while all other ecclesiastical and secular dignitaries were mentioned only by their titles or functions they perform…

Apart from them, at this magnificent gathering in attendance were: His Excellency Prof. Dr. Zdravko Krivokapich, Prime Minister of Montenegro; Dr. Nenad Popovich, Minister of Innovation and Technological Development in the Government of Serbia; His Excellency Vladislav Vladislavovich Maslenikov, Ambassador of Russia to Montenegro; His Excellency Christian Thimonier, Ambassador of France to Montenegro; Mr. Slaven Radunovich, Member of the Parliament of Montenegro, President of the Club of Deputies of the Democratic Front and Vice President of the political party New Serbian Democracy; Mr. Andrija Mandich, President of the New Serbian Democracy – one of the main ruling parties in Montenegro; Mr. Vladimir Djukanovich, Member of the Serbian Parliament and one of the leading functionaries of the Serbian Progressive Party, the ruling party in Serbia; Prof. Dr. Dragan Stanich, President of Matitsa Srpska, the oldest Serbian literary, cultural and scientific society; Mr. Dragan M. Davidovich, director of the Secretariat for Religions in the Government of Republic of Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as numerous other diplomats, ministers, MPs, mayors and other officials from Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries.

Among the mentioned high-ranking guests were also the members of the entourage of Their Highness Prince Davit and Princess Irina: Mr. Aleksandar Djurdjev, Vice-Rector of the Order of the Eagle of Georgia and the Seamless Tunic of our Lord Jesus Christ in Serbia and Member of Parliament in the Parliament of the Serbian Autonomous Province of Vojvodina; Reverend Deacon Hadzi Nenad M. Jovanovich, Chaplain of the Georgian Royal Orders in Serbia; Mr. Goran Milenkovich, Assistant Minister for Rural Welfare – Sector for International Cooperation, European Integration and Projects in the Government of Serbia and Monsieur Henri Durand de Grossouvre, Knight Grand Commander of the Order of the Eagle of Georgia and the Seamless Tunic of our Lord Jesus Christ.
