Mayte Spinola Award for Oenology. July 6 – Madrid, Kingdom of Spain: His Royal Highness Crown Prince Davit of Georgia received the prestigious Mayte Spinola Gold Medal in Oenology for the unique project in Georgia that started in 2018. The construction of the Vineyards and Winery Prince of Mukhrani, in ancestral Mukhrani Estate, returning after nearly 200 years an old family tradition of winemaking. It should be noted that with over 500 varieties of grapes and 8000 years history, Georgia is considered the Cradle of Wine, as archaeologists have traced the world’s first known wine creation back to the people of the South Caucasus in 6,000BC.
