TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF DEATH OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCE GIORGI THE LATE CROWN PRINCE AND HEAD OF THE ROYAL HOUSE OF GEORGIA

His Royal Highness The Crown Prince Davit of Georgia, Head of the Royal House of Georgia, led congregants at the memorial mass held to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the death of his late beloved father and Head of the Royal House.  The service was held at the Royal Family Pantheon in Svetitskhoveli Cathedral Mtskheta near Tbilisi.


His Royal Highness The Prince Giorgi Bagrationi-Mukhraneli was born in Rome, to Their Royal Highness The Prince Irakly and Princess Maria Antonietta, on 22nd February 1944  and died on the 16th of January 2008 Tbilisi .  The funeral was held with all Royal Honours accorded by the Church and State on 20th January 2008.  


His Royal Highness became the head of the Georgian Royal family upon the death of his father on 30th October 1977.  Was the Grand Master of the Order of the Eagle of Georgia and the Tunic of Our Lord Jesus Christ.


Prince Giorgi made his first visit to his ancestral homeland to bury his late Grand father's remains in 1991.  Having lived in exile in Spain for most of his life, he joyfully returned to Georgia with his sons and died in Tbilisi.  His remains are interred with those of his Royal ancestors, the Kings of Georgia, in the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta.
