CROWN PRINCE DAVIT OF GEORGIA VISITS THE JAPANESE PARLIAMENT BUILDING

His Royal Highness The Crown Prince Davit of Georgia paid an official visit to the National Diet Building of the Empire of Japan. 

 

The National Diet (“Kokkai”) is the bicameral legislature of the Empire of Japan and is composed of a lower house, called the House of Representatives, and an upper house, known as the House of Councillors.  Both houses are directly elected and the Diet is formally responsible for selecting the Prime Minister. 

 

HRH The Crown Prince of Georgia was received by Mr Yasutoshi Nishimura, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) member of the House of Representatives.  Mr Nishimura presently serves as the Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union between Japan and Georgia.  

Crown Prince Davit of Georgia express his gratitude to Mr Nishimura for his active support to Georgia, and with interest received and read documents concerning Mr Nishimura’s work during his visit to the State of Georgia in 2007, when he served as Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Japan (Japanese deputy foreign minister).  Mr Nishimura explained to His Royal Highness the work he is currently undertaking in preparation for a Japanese commercial and trade mission to visit Georgia in 2017. 

 

The Crown Prince of Georgia enthusiastically welcomed the excellent initiative and expressed his full support and desire to welcome the delegation when it visits Georgia in the New Year.  At the end of the very cordial and warm meeting, Crown Prince Davit presented Mr Nishimura with the Medal of Merit of the Royal House of Georgia (MMG) for his work in consolidating Japanese-Georgian relations and for his contribution to the State of Georgia.

 

Mr Nishimura has also in the past served as Acting Director, Land, Infrastructure and Transport Division of the LDP, as Deputy Chairman of the Policy Research Council of the LDP, as Shadow Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and as a Senior Deputy Minister at the Cabinet Office.
